Total Confusion

On Saturday 21 February 2025, I visited Total Sports store (The Springfield Park branch). I visited the store after 4pm and found that the store was not very busy in terms of customers, however there was plenty of staff support that were visible on the shopfloor which in my mind meant that we would be promptly assisted. This however was not the case as the staff members on the shopfloor didn't seem interested in assisting us and we waited over 15minutes then requested assistance from 1 of the staff members. The staff member who assisted me, then showed me a few items, however I eventually settled for two items. Both of those items were shorts 1 pair was blue and the other pair was a red pair of shorts. The Red pair was (Item number:***) and had a price of R199 however there was a black marker, marking over the price which made the price still visable and there was no new price or other price of that item. The blue pair of shorts (***5) had a clear price of R199, these shorts were TS shorts.

The real problem started when i went to the cashier to pay for the two items, both these items according to the system were now R249 instead of the price that was actually on the price tag and it started to look like I was in the wrong for not actually finding out before I had come to the cashier.

I feel like with so many people in the store, somebody should actually change the prices if the prices indeed have changed and I would like to understand why put a black mark over a product price if you have no intention of actually putting the correct price on the actual item of clothing. This whole experience left me actually standing at the cashiers till looking like i either do not have the money or like I'm the person in the wrong. Needless to say, I will not be visiting this store anytime soon as this was a waste of my time and only left me feeling like I'm actually begging for discounts.
