Defective Nike Shoes

On 17 March 2024, I purchased an original Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 40 from Total Sports in Gateway Mall, Durban, South Africa which costed R2599,95. It has been less than a year and already the front section of the right shoe (near the toe) has started tearing. I do not use this shoe for running and the fact that it is a running shoe and has already started tearing is extremely disappointing and unacceptable as this is by no means an entry level or low budget shoe.

Surely this is a defective product as I make very light usage of the shoe, which only involves intermittent usage and correct cleaning and usage as per the instructions provided.

I returned to the Total Sports store in Gateway Mall and was advised that the store warranty is only valid for 6 months. My understanding is that all original Nike shoes come standard with a 2 year warranty and the fact that the store refused to assist me is completely ********* and unacceptable, as Total Sports is a reputable and recognised retailer of many running shoe brands and so on.

I would like to request that my shoes be replaced by the exact same pair, or, alternatively, the current equivalent Pegasus shoe.
