********* and incorrect terms and conditions

So I purchased a pair of soccer boots this year July. My 6 month warranty period is not even over. About two months ago I noticed the shoe was starting to open up and tear. Due to work I was unable to go and return it. However a few weeks ago I managed to take it to a store in order to have it returned. The shoe was taken from me and I was told that they would get back to me. A few days ago when I did a follow up I was told that it was so worn out that they couldn't exchange it. I was rather surprised as my 6 month warranty was not up and also it was quiet evident that the tears were caused by the shoe being of poor quality. I find it very upsetting and rather ********* that I am now I formed I can not be refunded either by means of a gift card or a another shoe.
