Topping up a clealy marked diesel tank with petrol
Total garage in Albemarle does not only offer a very pathetic and somewhat dangerous service to its clients; they also don't care. My wife stopped at this "local filling station for us", to put in diesel into my Toyota Double Cab. This was on Sunday 11 March 2018. She asked the attendant to put in 95 unleaded petrol. She normally drives a petrol BMW. When you open the fuel cap, the latter is distinctively and conspicuously marked Diesel in red. You just can't miss this description. The attendant simply obliged and topped up a diesel cab with unleaded petrol. Halfway through the process he noticed that he was topping up diesel with petrol, and stopped.
They subsequently were assisted by another patron to drain out all the fuel. Thanks to this kind gentleman, because their method of draining almost resulted in a disaster. There was about 14 litres of diesel in the double cab, which was never replaced. The attendant was very rude, and unapologetic to my wife for the error. This is because he is of the view that "he simply did what he was asked to do". It would appear as if the "Diesel" inscription on the inside of the fuel cab meant nothing to him. In deed, my wife was wrong to ask for unleaded petrol in the first place. But the attendant had a duty to bring this to her attention and correct her mistake. After all, diesel nozzles are also different is design to petrol nozzles, to assist those who cannot read.
We wrote a complaint to ********** on 15 March 2018. All they (Total Customer care) did was to acknowledge receipt of our "enquiry", and gave us a reference number ( ********** 7). To date we have not heard a word from them, let alone receive our 14 litres of diesel that we lost in the process.
We are gravely disappointed with the kind of service from this (our local) fuel garage. It is clear that Total does not care, and does not have any regard for its customers.
