Employees Pay to use a toilet - Total Zeerust

<p>Traveling from Botswana on 14 December 2016, we stopped at a Total Service station in Zeerust, while there my 2 year old needed the bathroom when i followed the signs one of the petrol attendants asked me if i had a R2 to pay for the toilet. I did not have and he advised that I would not be able to use the toilet if i do not have money. This was very troubling to me having a toddler that needed to use the bathroom; what was even more alarming was the fact that he also told me 'Even we have to pay to use the toilet'. Really? there are employees who have to use money from their already minimum wage and pay to use the toilet? I am not a fundi on labour law but i think that there are just basics that employees need to have and access to a bathroom 'WITHOUT CHARGE' should be one of them. So if they do not have a R2, you what? pee behind the wall and where do you wash your hands? Please someone help me here but i feel that Total should address this unacceptable behavior under their umbrella name.</p>
