Watch out for TRA, they hide in their Smalll print

I have been a customer of TRA for a couple of years and have never had to make a claim previously. My wife gave birth recently and when I made contact with TRA in order to claim the specialist's Gap (the exact reason i got gap cover), I was shocked to be informed I wasn't covered due to the fact that my cover has an exclusion on PMBs (prescribed minimum benefits). Being an average Joe and not knowing EVERYTHING about insurance its quite simple to not know that giving birth is also a PMB (My understanding previously was that PMBs are only related to medical emergencies). I was literally told by email that PMBs are supposed to be covered by your Medical Aid in full, and that I should go fight with my medical aid to pay the bill for the Gynaecologist.

My expectation was that if you sign up for gap cover, you will be covered for the gap between what your Medical Aid pays and what the Doctors charge. I feel severely betrayed by TRA.

TRA you are Truly one of "Those Small Print" companies hiding in the small print. I will be looking at other gap covers very shortly and you can expect my product cancellation.

I implore people looking at TRA gap cover to look else where, i can expect that if you hide yourself here you hide yourself in the rest of your products as well.
