Why do we bother? Pathetic service!
On the 1st of June I was admitted to hospital for Gastric. I was seen to by a very friendly and intelligent doctor who had one look at me and said he suspects that I have PCOS - Which was not pre-existing!<br> He ran a few tests for the PCOS and I was kept in the hospital for 4 days. From the 1st - the 4th. All the while I was there, I was extremely nauseous and my stomach was very upset. <br> I have been a member of TopMed for over 5 years, and pay our fee's religously. The claims for my stay have not been paid and the case manager I spoke to said that they would not be paying for anything after the 1st because it was not authorised! This is ridiculous! I have spoken with the hospital who have followed protocol and kept the scheme up to date, however the scheme failed to respond timorously about renewal of authorization and now I am stuck having to pay over R10 000 in medical bills!! WHY DO I PAY TOPMED IN THE FIRST PLACE IF I HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL MYSELF ?? My Partner and I will be leaving the scheme as soon as this is all settled. If this is how they treat a long paying customer then I was clearly wrong - TopMed is nothing more than money grabbers. A **** if ever I have heard of one!
The hospital called us for an authorisation on the 02/06/2015. We informed the hospital that we will only authorise 1 day and require further clinical evidence for an extended hospital stay.
We have not received any further clinical evidence that warrant the extended stay in hospital. We have requested the hospital to provide us with the blood results and a motivation as to why a gynaecologist attended to you as the diagnosis provided by the hospital does not fit the criteria to consult with a gynaecologist.
Till date we have not received these requested documents. We can only review the extended length of stay in hospital upon receipt of these documents.
