Top Speed Motors
<div>My Experience with TopSpeed Motors 🚨 I purchased a bakkie from TopSpeed Motors in February 2025, and on the very first day, the vehicle became faulty — it wouldn’t start after I stopped at home. I returned it immediately, and to their credit, they resolved the issue within two days, stating it was related to the EGR valve. Shortly after, I discovered several additional faults, including: A faulty gearbox A malfunctioning fuel gauge (not showing correct fuel levels) A malfunctioning heat gauge (not indicating engine temperature properly) I also had a tracker installed as required by the insurance company, and shortly after the bakkie did not start (once again). I notified TopSpeed Motors, and they then collected my bakkie and later informed me that it seems like the fault was caused by the tracker company. TopSpeed Motors said they would raise the issue with the tracker company, but I have received no feedback or resolution regarding this since. TopSpeed Motors, claimed that there was an alternator fault caused by the tracker installation. However, before TopSpeed Motors collected the bakkie I notified them that I installed the tracker, and the tracking company confirmed that the error was not caused by the tracker installation. What’s more concerning is that they have completely ignored all the other concerns raised and instead of taking responsibility for the faults, they began charging me towing and storage fees. This entire experience has been incredibly frustrating and financially draining. I believe it’s only fair to share this publicly so others can make informed decisions. 🔍 If you're considering purchasing from TopSpeed Motors, please research carefully. I strongly recommend checking their reviews on HelloPeter and other platforms first. #TopSpeedMotors #ConsumerRights #VehicleIssues #CarComplaints #SouthAfrica #KnowYourRights</div>
Tracker Blame – Disputed by the Tracker Company While you insist the tracker caused the no-start issue. If you're so confident in your claim, why hasn’t this been taken further with them or resolved collaboratively instead of being pushed onto me? Gearbox Issue – Never Addressed The gearbox concern was raised, and instead of resolving it, you’re now trying to minimize it as a “minor knocking noise.” This is not a subjective concern — it's a mechanical defect. I did not refuse any help; I was awaiting your feedback, which never came. You’ve chosen to ignore this fault entirely. Gauges – Still Not Functioning Properly Your claim that the gauges were "within spec" is not reflected in the actual driving experience. The fuel gauge gives inaccurate readings, and the heat gauge doesn’t function properly as I’ve discovered on the trip to Durban. If you truly tested them, please provide the documented results. Storage & Towing Fees – Unreasonable and Punitive You offered to tow the bakkie “as a gesture of goodwill,” but now use it to justify charges. The vehicle remains with you only because the issues I raised were never resolved. Instead of support, I received invoices. I have made several attempts to resolve the matter before escalating to HelloPeter. Initial Positive Review – Based on Limited Experience Yes, I did leave a 5-star review after the first issue was fixed. That review was based on what seemed to be prompt service. It does not negate the serious faults and lack of accountability that followed. I remain open to a fair resolution, but deflecting responsibility, charging unreasonable fees, and ignoring ongoing defects is not acceptable.

We are genuinely surprised by your continued frustration, especially given that your account of events misrepresents the facts. For the sake of absolute clarity, here's a precise timeline regarding the February 2025 sale:
Initial Visit and Flawless Repair
On the very first day you contacted us, you reported minor concerns, including the EGR valve. We promptly collected the bakkie, resolved every single defect you raised, and returned it in perfect running order. You even acknowledged this efficient service with a 5-star review on HelloPeter. Furthermore, you drove the bakkie for approximately 2,000 kilometers after this initial repair without reporting any further issues until the tracker was fitted.
Tracker-Related No-Start: NOT OUR FAULT
It's crucial to understand that after your insurer-required tracker was fitted by a third party, you reported the bakkie wouldn't start. We, as a gesture of goodwill, towed the vehicle at our expense (incurring legitimate towing and handling costs). Our inspection immediately revealed the cause: a disconnected cable at the alternator, directly attributable to the tracker fitment. You yourself confirmed on a voice note to Daniel (Branch Manager at Barrage Rd) that the vehicle had starting issues after the tracker was fitted. This was further corroborated by video evidence, sent to you immediately, clearly showing the disconnected cable outside of our workmanship. Our invoice for towing and handling stands.
Gearbox Fault: Your Missed Opportunity
You now allege a faulty gearbox, despite the bakkie being fully drivable with only a minor knocking noise, not a major fault rendering it inoperable. At no point did you allow us the opportunity to send the bakkie to a warranty-approved specialist for inspection. Had you simply given us the chance, we would have promptly booked and managed this under your warranty. Your failure to cooperate on this matter lies squarely with you.
Gauges Tested and Verified
Both the fuel and temperature gauges were thoroughly tested during each service visit and consistently found to be operating within manufacturer specifications. No faults were detected or documented whatsoever.
Accrued Storage Fees: Non-Negotiable
Following your threat of Ombudsman action, you have flat-out ignored our repeated attempts to contact you and have refused to collect your bakkie. As such, reasonable storage fees have accrued. These charges cover the diligent care we've taken of your vehicle, including regular cleaning, necessary starting, and secure storage at our facility. These fees will continue to accrue until you settle all outstanding invoices and arrange for immediate collection.
We stand by the integrity of our process and the quality of our service. You received prompt defect repairs, unequivocal video documentation of the tracker-related issue, and repeated offers to address every concern. To finally resolve this matter and retrieve your bakkie, you must contact us without further delay to settle the towing, handling, and accrued storage fees.
