Tope Gear RV Centre - Beware of them and be Cautious !

An absolute guarantee for very heavy headaches comes to reality if you decide to purchase a vehicle from Tope Gear RV Centre / Buitensingel Road in Cape Town. Most of their vehicles are camouflaged accident cars, coated, wrapped or repainted and absolutely NOT roadworthy. And even in an attempt to notify them of this they do the minimum to make the vehicle roadworthy. Be aware as they sell the cars (through an ******* DEKRA contact "certifying" them "roadworthy") with broken shocks, wipers, gearboxes, wrong spare wheel mag sizes (mixed) and lifters, front accident damages with non working headlamps and spotlights, broken aircons, blocked washer fluid nozzles etc. - INSPECT CAREFULLY !!! This is a fraction of the list that I had - and they "passed" it through roadworthy - the DEKRA guy should be arrested for this. When I asked to replace my 49.5 diameter spare wheel mag with a standar 47cm (as all other wheels) they did replace it with a cracked mag in the hope I wont notice. Tope Gear CV Centres' ethics are non existant and definately not worth to be recommended to anyone.

After several emails "back and forth" of non-negotiation about previous accident damages with Top Gear I contacted the Ombudsman (www.MIOSA.co.za). I did win the case - and being forced under those circumstances Top Gear RV quite forcedfully finally agreed to undertake the repairs after 18 months of me lodging the complaints!! I strongly suggest any customer to contact MIOSA - if they have a similar case to mine! RV's outsourced panel shop did a fantastic, wonderfull and very neat job!! I will write a positive review about them separately!!! I did have to send the car back to RV Top Gear due to incomplete work done on RV's part as usual - which I did - on return still not working ! and their technician damaged my plastic fender *****s! A bunch *****s and non qualified staff! They suggested I bring the car in AGAIN! For the spare replacement parts, that I need, Johan Jordaan at RV recommended we take the parts from other vehicles same models on his floor to put into my car - how *****ed is this???.. selling cars with missing parts to new owners?? I would imprison a man like this! It's ********, I don't understand and it's absolutely ********* for the new owner with missing parts!!! This company will NEVER EVER see me again nor be recommend or referred to anyone. A brainless attitude and they won't touch my car again! I bought 3 cars with them - ASTA LA VISTA FOREVER!!!

Official
Although some of the defects on the vehicle were unfortunate and not anticipated all faults were repaired. It must be noted that you were disingenuous with your promise to remove review once all faults had been corrected. We held up our end, you didn't. Some of your allegations are based  more on fantasy than anything else. As far as your allegations against Dekra, should you feel they acted **********ly then why didn't you take it up with them or the authorities. Instead you hid behind a vengeful review with the expectation of no consequence.  We have forwarded your review onto Dekra should they need to take action against you for defamation or slander.

Please note that I have been contacted by several of your clients who have made precisely same sad experiences about your car dealership. How sad is this?? Your clients have asked me for help and which legal recourse they have. As a matter of principle (I act against ********* businesses), I will assist them in my full capacity with legal assistance and advice.
If you are able to live a happy life by ripping people out of their hard earned money every day - then its your decision. I would be sad to live like this.
The ombudsman did agree that my vehicle was 100% unroadworthy at the time of sale of the vehicle - hence if DEKRA disagree with unroadworthyness then I do strongly suggest that they obtain re-confirmation through the ombudsman. I am happy to assist with contact details.
