Fitment centers using scare tactics to make sales

I purchased a second hand vehicle 3 weeks ago. Having had some suspension work done i took it to Tonnesons Fitment Center to have the alignment done. The staff then proceed to tell me the tyres have \Expired\" due to the fact that they are older than 5 years old and that insurance companies can use this as a reason to not pay should i be in an accident as they are deemed to not be roadworthy. It was also pointed out to me that this would be the first thing that a traffic officer would check on, should i be in an accident. <br> <br> Being a Saturday, i could not reach my insurance company, but considering the vehicle has just been through an AA roadworthy check i found this odd. Long story short, they tried to sell me tyres that were not to my specifications, and i had to Google myself to show them they were wrong. This could have been a R9 000 mistake! So i left, not having my alignment done, proceeded to go to Good Hope Tyres and Tyger Wheel and Tyre. Both of them confirmed, that tyres older than 5 years are not roadworthy!<br> <br> At a loss of words i started research, phoned my insurance company and the AA this morning.
