Deplorable service to patients at the Tongaat Health Clinic

On 2 occasions I had taken my mum to the clinic as emergency, both times the experience was pathetic. The first was during Easter weekend, we thought she was having a heart attack and rushed her there...they were as slow as anything with no sense of urgency. We waited for half an hour before she was seen. By that time a male nurse came in an asked what we waiting there for?? The security was another **** show. More concerned that only 1 person can accompany the patient. They refused to let my brother come in - he was pushing her in a wheelchair and I was carrying her water and her whole bag of meds that she was taking in order to show them. The person at the files office took her own sweet time and couldn't find her file (patient of many years at the same clinic). She had to eventually make a new one.

The second time around was 2 week's ago at 2am in the morning. Everyone was asleep and snoring including the guards. We had to hoot so many times to get attention. Got into the clinic and here too they making a fuss about 2 of us taking her in. I mean seriously we are worried about our mum and they are more concerned that there's 2 people with her. Absolutely deplorable! the ramp is so steep, you need to be really strong to wheel up the ramp. The service is terrible and the staff act very entitled and you almost feel bad for disturbing their sleep routine. Terrible attitude! They are there to provide a service, if they feel inconvenienced please change your profession. There are many elderly patients who take the abuse quietly. There is no excuse for this type of behaviour. They would not like for their parents to be treated that way. They need to catch a wake up!!!
