Lease agreement

My daughter was staying at TMM from the 1st of March until the varsity closed due to covid 19 she came back home on the 17th of March month end I paid her rental because I wasn't sure how long the lock down was gonna take.two weeks back my daughter told me they will be studying online until September so I sent an email to cancel the lease was told unless they find some one to move-in on the 1st of May I am liable to pay rent until end of November.At this stage we are on a lockdown no one can move .I've been sending emails to explain to them that I didn't know we were going to be faced with the pendemic they also didn't know but I feel they can not penelize me with a clause when we have Corona
