Tione Builders Construction CC - Run the other way as you have being warned

I entered in a agreement with Robert from Tione Builders Construction CC. The renovations were supposed to be completed on the 21st April 2019. Its now 23 May 2019 and the work done is no where close to be completed. The nature of the renovations was to create a flatlet on the house which is self sustaining for a family member. His company was refereed onto me via a referral link at a reputable company and therefore my guard was down. See the attached snag list and imagine this was your house: 1. Install new kitchen cupboard a. Incomplete b. Cupboard Doors not aligning c. Cupboard doors not attached d. Cupboard doors unable to close e. Cupboard Drawers not installed f. Cupboard shelves not installed g. Cupboard backboards not installed h. Cupboard sides not fixed in place i. Cupboard handles loose j. Cupboard top grouting not completed 2. Install Gas Geyser a. No flute b. Not connected c. Geyser Manufacturers of geyser no longer exist, no spares available, geyser isn’t in working condition. 3. Install Gas stove – not installed 4. Issue Certificate of Compliance for gas – not provided 5. Installation bathroom a. Bathroom Stinking as no U-bend was installed in the shower and washing machine drainage pipe b. Shower trap defective c. Shower head isn’t the one supp**** and a broken shower head installed d. Shower floor incomplete e. Toilet loose and wobbles f. Basin U-bend is perished with cracks sealed g. Copper Basin trap installed when finishing’s are silver/chrome h. Basin installed an inch away from wall and not flush against wall as agreed i. Bathroom shelf installed with only 3 of the 4 supports attached to the wall – wall support is missing j. Gaps between the roof and the top of the wall to wall tiling k. Burglar bars not installed l. Installation of 2 outside gullies i. Pipe coming from main house kitchen sink running onto paving and not into gully ii. Paving after lifting not installed as agreed (around gully) iii. Second gully not removed and new gully installed m. Outside Paving installed after lifting to link bathroom to sewerage system is no longer level has severe depressions. This is part of the driveway to the garage i. Paving bricks broken n. Door to bathroom installed i. can’t lock as the latch isn’t aligned ii. only attached with 2 dry walling *****s o. Door to bedroom installed i. Not aligned ii. Doesn’t lock iii. Frame loose p. Front entrance door installed i. Doesn’t lock 1. lock mechanism broken 2. can’t lock as the latch isn’t aligned q. Front Entrance Security gate installed (Damaged) i. Doesn’t lock 1. Secured to the one side with wood putty which stops the gate from closing ii. Not secured 1. One side secured with building putty 2. No *****s used on the one side 3. Aluminum used to secure the gate on the window side cut at the wrong angle leaving jiggered edge with gap 4. Top guide rail widened and not secured to the wall r. Burglar bars installed cut without finishing done (Damaged) s. Pelmet removed and replaced with finishing damaged and not matching t. Light switch installed loose u. Face brick flower bed removed and not replaced when gully 1 was worked on v. 4 plug point installed without covers w. Copper Piping installed i. Not in agreed place (coming from the mains in the roof, instead run underground from the second cottage) ii. Leaking iii. Paving lifted not reinstalled just placed 6. Second entrance door installed, door bottom sawed off to fit and not smoothed down 7. Window installed incomplete 8. Outside gate installed a. Incomplete i. No handle ii. No locking mechanism (agreed electronic lock) b. Gate was left for three weeks outside untreated and is rusting both inside and outside 9. Face Brick flower bed partially deconstructed to work on gate not rebuild 10. Recycled plastic plank deck not installed 11. Window & Burglar Installed a. Window installed with holes in the wall and plastering not done on outside b. Burglar bars install not bolted in on secured with plaster c. Space between Burglar bars and window not smoothed off

This doesn't take into account all the items broken on my property over the period in question.

I can give more detail around how this friendly amicable man pulled the wool over my eyes and fleeced me. I have now approached another company to determine how to fix the problems caused and the costs are double as most of the work is un-salvageable.

The purpose of this review is a warning to people doing their own renovations and being lulled by a referral.
