Very very poor and bad service - Timber City Randburg
Well, if you want to be disappointed, and upset, go to TIMBER CITY at 314 Design Blvd, Hoogland, Randburg, 2169!!!
We went there the first time with a carpenter who was installing drawers in my kitchen cupboards in April. We gave the measurements and instructions of what had to be done with the wood for the drawers, eg wrap and edge them after cutting them.
We were called the next week to come and fetch them and brought them home, only to discover that most of them did not have the edge they were supposed to have. We left it, as the carpenter was already on the premises and he had only that day to do the work. My husband went the next day to our local store and bought edging and pasted it on himself.
We thought, ok, a mistake had been made – although we had originally paid for the edging to be done – we would just leave it and carry the extra costs ourselves as we live about 30 minutes away from Timber City (depending on traffic) and the carpenter had to get finished as he had another job the next day.
Then, we needed more wood which had to be cut and wrapped and edged again, this time not white but Mozambique wood.
My husband and I went back to TIMBER CITY again to place our order on Wednesday 9th September 2020. Jacky Mahlagu helped us and was very pleasant. He told us that they were very busy so we would only receive the order either the Friday or the Saturday. ****h or 12th September) Order number 105501
We said ok we would then come the Tuesday (15th September) as we were going in to town on Tuesday. I called the Tuesday morning to make sure the wood was ready. It apparently was not but would be ready by late afternoon. I did not see chance to ride out on Witkoppen Road after 4 in the afternoon so told Jacky we would come Wednesday (16th September) morning between 10 and 11 am.
Wednesday we went. Got there at 11:15 am. Jacky was busy so we waited a bit and then he came to help us. Well, THEN we waited!! Eventually, 30 minutes later, he came and said the guy was waiting downstairs with our wood. We thanked him and went to load the wood.
Yeah right!! Four pieces had been edged and four had not!! So my husband told the guy and he took the wood and said it would be 5 minutes and he would be back. Sure!!! 30 minutes later he arrived with the wood and bundled it into the boot and then only he gave us the document to sign, without us being able to check the wood. When my husband said he wanted to check, the guy very nastily said he was to close the boot and THEN he would give him the paper to sign and the wood was correct.
We came home and I told my husband to measure each piece to make sure we have the correct sizes. He measured them, and low and behold, there were mistakes!! Two of the boards had bad chips out of them as well! We called them and we spoke to the “manager” Meshorn and he said we were to come back and he would give us the correct ones. So off we went again to Timber City to collect the corrected ones.
We were given new ones and came back home only to discover that they had given us one of the incorrect ones and one correct one. My husband called the “manager” Meshorn and he said to come back AGAIN and they would have the corrected ones ready for us.
So on the Thursday (17th September) my husband went back to Timber City again, this time armed WITH a tape measure so he could check the boards BEFORE leaving there for the third time!!
The “manager” Meshorn was rude and not at all helpful during this whole saga. THAT is one business that will NEVER see me again!! Never mind my time, petrol and discomfort in having to go three times to get 8 small planks cut and wrapped and edged correctly, it was difficult for me personally, as I walk with a walking stick and struggled each time to climb their stairs. Could they not just get the order correct the FIRST time! What pride do they have in their work?
I sent them an email via their customer service email as well as on their site, and they (Buco customer care) acknowledged my complaint with a text saying they would contact me shortly and a one word email from Ryan Sitzer where he stated "duplicate" - well that was on Monday 5th October. I have heard nothing further - and actually don't expect to.
