Scales On Fish At Restaurant
Dear Tightline Management, I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent visit to Tightline, particularly as a first-time guest at a five-star restaurant, where I expected a much higher standard of food and service. I initially ordered the fish of the day, a mussel cracker, grilled. The waiter returned to inform me that it had unfortunately sold out and recommended the fish curry as an alternative, which I agreed to try. However, on my very first bite, I found scales in the fish, which was both unpleasant and completely unacceptable for a restaurant of this calibre. The waiter called the manager, who apologised and offered to prepare a fresh curry. While I appreciate the apology and the offer to rectify the situation, I had already lost confidence in the dish and declined. I then asked whether it would be possible to have a steak from your sister restaurant, Tyler's, instead. This was arranged, and I must commend Tyler's once again, as the steak was absolutely outstanding. I have visited Tyler's before and had a fantastic experience, and this visit reinforced why I hold the restaurant in such high regard. Unfortunately, the contrast between the two establishments was striking. The experience at Tightline was disappointing, while Tyler's once again delivered on quality and expectations. I genuinely struggle to understand how two sister restaurants can offer such vastly different dining experiences. For a restaurant positioning itself at a five-star level, I would expect greater attention to food preparation, quality control and the overall guest experience. Finding scales in a fish dish is not a minor issue, particularly when dining at an establishment of this standard. Regrettably, this experience has left me with no desire to return to Tightline. I will also be sharing my feedback with friends, family and colleagues, as I believe it is important to be honest about experiences that fall so far below expectations. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and uses it as an opportunity to review the standards being maintained in the kitchen. Tyler's has set a very positive benchmark in my experience, and Tightline unfortunately fell well short of it. Kind regards, Trevor Chetty
