It appears there may be questionable practices occurring at Tiger's Milk Pavilion. I'm uncertain if this is a government oversight or simply a lack of accountability within the business, but here are the issues as I understand them:

1. Unjust Fees for Waitstaff: Waiters are reportedly required to pay over R1500 monthly for breakages, despite the restaurant having a separate budget for such expenses.

2. Loss of Tips: When customers tip after making bookings, the tips are not given to the waitstaff. According to management, it's a company policy that tips from bookings go directly to the owners.

3. Additional Weekly Deductions: On top of these costs, waiters are reportedly being charged over R600 weekly, which is enforced as a requirement for employment.

4. Contract Issues and Lack of Overtime Pay: Many waiters have worked without formal contracts and are not compensated for holiday or Sunday shifts.

The threat from management is that if they refuse to pay these fees, they will lose their jobs. I wonder if any media outlet, such as a local radio station, can investigate these issues. Additionally, I’m disappointed with Pavilion Mall for not intervening, considering the welfare of workers within its premises.
