Poor Quality Renown Pork Bangers

The Renown Traditional Pork Bangers have been part of my family’s Saturday breakfast menu for as long as I can remember. This food item has over the years become part of the family breakfast tradition. I buy these from PnP or Checkers without fail as such my loyalty cards from these Supermarkets bear evidence.

I was very disappointed on the morning of 12 December 2020 when the during the occasion of enjoying my breakfast which also contained the Renown Traditional Pork Bangers as is the norm, when I cut through one of the sausages on my plate, I realized that something was sticking out from the sausage. Upon close inspection of the sausage I realized that it was a plastic string (see attached photo).

I must say that I was shocked and disgusted because I had already ingested a bit of the sausage. This took me by surprise because over the years I have become accustomed to the high quality of the product. The discovery of the string is concerning because it is an indication of quality assurance measures that are not up to the expected standard.

I am now conflicted on whether to continue buying this product or replacing it with one from competing brands.

I sent countless e-mails to Tiger Brands but have not received any response from them.
