Package size decrease - unjustified, deceptive hidden inflation

I've noticed a troubling trend where product package sizes are shrinking without a corresponding price reduction. For example, the large pack of Beacon Liquorice Allsorts was recently reduced from 400g to 350g, yet the price remains unchanged—this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this tactic and this is also not limited to Beacon. Additionally, the prices of these products appear to increase almost every month.

Reducing package sizes while maintaining the same price is a deceptive practice that misleads customers. South African companies could try and justify these changes by citing the "sugar tax," which typically rises only once a year— but certainly not at the rate reflected in these price hikes. In this case, the hidden inflation amounts to a 12.5% increase.

This is just one example of how consumers are being charged more for less. It's time for greater transparency and accountability!
