Moldy Maggots-Infested Golden Cloud Premix

Good afternoon, I am writing to complain about a purchased packet of a Tiger Brands product: Golden Cloud premix that was bought at Shoprite Store, 120 End Doornfontein on 06/01/2025.

Upon my arrival at home, I decided to bake the premix as I had been craving it and had decided to bake it myself instead of buying a store baked product. I used to trust your brand as I had used it many times before, however, this time I was in a for rude awakening.

Upon opening the packet I was met with an odor and what appeared to be spider webs and upon inspection I found a colony of dead bug within the upper corners of inside the packet. I then poured out all the contents of the packet onto my sieve for further inspection and that is where I found a maggot, still very much alive, within the packet.

I shudder to think what would’ve happened had I just put it in the pantry to use some other time, as it was not close to expiring, my other groceries would’ve been contaminated by this infestation and I could have been dealing with a medical emergency. I am truly horrified by the whole experience and I am disappointed that the employees at Shoprite were blasé about the matter when I decided to report the situation to them and they tried to give me another packet to which I refused because I suspected that all the packet were infested, and unfortunately for me they were, I know because they opened the few they brought to me in front of me and they all had bugs in them. They were not apologetic for the horrible experience and all they gave me was my refund and nothing else.

I am truly disgusted and disappointed at the way this whole situation was handled. I was not reimbursed for the inconvenience caused by this whole ordeal. I am urging you to do your due diligence and ensure that grocery stores have proper client support and care for when unfortunate events such as these happen that can tarnish your brand.
