Food Safety Concern: Live Maggot Found in Black Cat Chocolate

On 19 May 2026, I lodged a complaint with Tiger Brands after finding a live maggot inside a sealed chocolate bar. Unfortunately, I only noticed it after taking a bite. The maggot was still alive when I found it, and I provided both photo and video evidence.

I initially chose to contact Tiger Brands privately because I wanted to give them the opportunity to investigate the matter and resolve it directly before raising it publicly. I promptly provided all the information requested, and the product was collected from me for investigation over a week ago.

However, it has now been several weeks since my original complaint, and I have received little to no feedback regarding the outcome or progress of the investigation. While I understand that food safety investigations can take time, finding a live maggot in a chocolate bar is a serious quality and food safety concern, and I would have expected more proactive communication throughout the process.

Unfortunately, after attempting to resolve this matter privately and receiving no meaningful update, I feel I have no option but to raise my concerns here in the hope of receiving feedback and a timeline for resolution.
