T&C s prevail, not moral or common sense approach

I booked tickets for a gin feast at Marks Park through a web service called Ticketrush.

4 tickets at R150 paid R600 using card.

The day before the event I received an e-mail saying that the vent was acncelled but send dertails of card that was used a refund would be issued.

Sent off details eventually got a refund but only R450 was refunded.

I queried this.

Got this reply.

"The reason for this refund amount is that we do not refund any service/ transaction/ processing or bank fees even in the case of a cancelled event. We take on a lot of risk as we are misconstrued as the organisers for the events on our site so we have set terms that are agreed to by any person purchasing a ticket or using the Ticketrush site in order to protect ourselves and you. The reason we do not refund these fees is because we get hit hard by the bank when we have to issue refunds, if we did not have these terms we would not run a sustainable business and one big event can jeopardize our business. I understand and share your frustration as we have also taken a knock from this whole situation"

So event organizers and ticket agents for event mess up and I as the buyer of tickets must carry the can. Its all in the T&Cs on the website, and the company sticks by that.

Common sense would be that if the organizers of the event cancel the ticketing agents should have some come back to the organizers and not expect the customers to carry the can. But then again its not about common sense but about T&Cs on a website.

My advice is never use Ticket Rush to buy anything.
