May you have to die overseas before TIC insurance will help you. Stay away from them!

TIC Travel Insurance are totally useless. My son was supposed to return to Amsterdam from Nice, France on Wednesday. Due to bad weather in Amsterdam Easyjet cancelled his flight and could only give him a flight to return to Amsterdam tomorrow - 3 days later! Easy jet has given him accommodation at a 3 out of 10 hotel with a croissant for breakfast and pizza for supper. In trying to find out exactly what are 'reasonable' expenses that TIC will pay for I contacted TIC here in South Africa who said because he is still overseas I must speak to Medical Assistance Section (????) on ********** . When I told them my son has been forced to stay an extra 3 days before returning home and asked what TIC would pay for (not hotel) they could not answer and told me to speak to the Underwriter, who told me they will not tell advise me I must speak to Medical Assistance (????). Must my son sit in his hotel room for 3 days?? Will TIC cover costs for a day tour, visit to a close by village. Useless, useless . I always buy TIC Top Up Travel Insurance but will never do so again. I will rather get online travel insurance with the myriad of other more professional travel insurance companies. Once again - SOUTH AFRICA - useless.
