Average service, exorbitant rate.

Contacted Think-Smart to repair my central vacuum motor. They were very responsive and come out within an acceptable time (called Thursday afternoon and there technician came through Monday morning). However, I was disappointed when I received the invoice after the replacement of the motor brushes. Pretty simple to do and doesn't take too long. only basic electrical knowledge required to diagnose and/or complete the work. The technician was here no more than 20-30mins and they charged over R1900. The part were R144 (x2), which I think was reasonable. They charged R700 call out (which they hadn't advised me about) and another R750 to install the brushes. I was expecting to pay call out, but more around R450-R550. And, I think reasonable to expect at least some labour built in to call out. I did contact them to request they adjust the price, which they refused. They proposed that they send the technician back to remove the brushes. So, service was acceptable, but the rate was, IMO, exorbitant.

Also, despite there being special connectors already installed to disconnect the vacuum suction and exhaust pipes from the unit, the technician cut and rejoined the pipes. Fit for purpose, but not how it should have been done.
