The View Lodge - No humanity - Only money talks

With Covid affecting everybody's finances, just about all accommodation places allow free cancellation. However, The View Lodge at Witbankdam refuses to refund my deposit, even though I cancelled two months in advance. I got married and held my reception at another place (also on the banks of Witbankdam) on 16 June 2021, my husband passed away on 26 July 2021 and I just cannot face going back there in December. I thought I would be able to, but I just cannot do it. We were also there last year December. A person would think that special circumstances would warrant special treatment. I would not recommend anybody to make a booking there, life and circumstances change in a blink of an eye, but they have no sympathy whatsoever - only money counts.
