Unlimited not paying out a claim

My aunt has been going back and forth trying to claim for death cover at Unlimited for the past two months. She has been told one story after another when she enquires about the claim. Her daughter passed on in July which is the month she made the claim but to this day she has not received anything. At first she kept on being told that she had outstanding documents that she needed to submit which she did. She was then told that the claim has gone to the assessors and told that it will take 48 hours to be approved. No feedback was received after the 48 hours and calls have been made to the company numerous times to enquire of the status and everytime she is told something different.

It is so unfortunate that when my aunt joined, she was not made aware that she will have to sweat when she makes a claim. This company collects premiums every month with no fail, however when its time for them to do a payout they are doing a run around and avoiding doing it at all costs.

Hi Nontobeko,

Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your loved one. We sincerely apologise for the long and painful process that your aunt had to go through in her time of need. Our main purpose is to be there for the members of our family and it saddens us that her experience has been the opposite of what we strive to achieve. We'd truly love the opportunity to make things right with her to ensure that she's supported and cared for. Our claims department will be in contact with you today and assist you.

My aunt has been taking your calls but you continue to tell her different information. There is a medical questionnaire that needs to be completed by a regular treating doctor and it clearly indicates that if the doctor is not the regular treating doctor than they mustn't complete it. Now she has been told that she needs to take that form to be completed by the doctor who filled the BI form. How now? When it clearly states that regular treating doctor? You asked her to do an Affidavit and you guys will do your own investigation on local clinics around the area where she live. Now you want her to to go to the local clinic and collect that letter herself when she had already provided you with an affidavit.

I really hope people would think twice about joining this cover from The Unlimited because what you are doing to my aunt is damn frustrating!

I am happy to say that my aunt's claim has finally been paid after a lot of back and forth coupled with frustrations. A special thank you to Mbali Mthethwa who took over and handled the claim. She was of such great assistance, she managed to put us into light with the process and apologized for the misinformation that we had received prior to her handling the claim. Had she been the one assigned in the onset, I am completely sure all the frustrations that ensued would not have transpired. Keep up the good work you're doing Mbali Mthethwa. My family is very pleased. I hope the company realises what a great asset you are.
