Unhelpful short term insurance ever

on 05 May 2017 my brother was in a motor vehicle accident on the M1 highway. He sustained multiple head and facial injuries. Been in ICU for 3 weeks after he was discharged he asked me to please phone the unlimited as he has an insurance policy with the company. On 26 May 2017 i phoned the call center and the consultant emailed me all the docuements.

We started gathering the information the medicial statement was 300 pages, the blood results etc.

We could not open a SAPS case as the injured did not remember what had happened to to his injuries. SAPS was at the scene however after several attempts to get the case number we were pushed from pillar to post. Until now the docket cannot be found.

I called in on a number of occasions requesting for assistance in how this matter can be resolved.

Call center and claims are specific they need an SAPS case number.

I asked them to look at this case in isolation as he was the only driver and there were no witnesses.

FYI if the motor vehicle company could pay out on no SAPS number due to the medical doctors report submitted stating the severity of the injuries, i cant see why the unlimited cant.

What must be said on the SAPS report if the injured does not remember anything.

At the time in offering the policy all sounds good but time to claim there is a thousand and one excuses why the money cannot be paid.

I am considering referring this matter to the Ombudsman.
