Unauthorised Debit Orders
I am writing to express my grave concern regarding the unauthorised debit orders that have been debiting the account of the old women's society from the village of Mmakau since 2018. The account in question is with Standard Bank. These debit orders have been initiated by The Unlimited Insurance Company without any authorisation.
The society comprises elderly women, many of whom rely on government grants to make ends meet. It is highly unacceptable that their limited funds have been wrongfully debited for several years, leaving them in financial distress.
Despite multiple attempts to resolve this issue with Standard Bank, we have only encountered delays and unfulfilled promises. Standard Bank has not been able to provide any proof of authorisation for these debits. These women have made numerous trips to Standard Bank branches, often using taxis and spending money they can scarcely afford, yet they continue to receive the runaround from bank representatives. This situation has caused significant inconvenience and hardship for the affected members.
One of these ladies is my grandmother, so I took it upon myself to raise this complaint as both companies have been taking advantage of her limited knowledge. Additionally, The Unlimited has no proof of any contractual agreement between them and the society.
I demand an immediate investigation into this matter. We require a comprehensive explanation for how these unauthorised debits were allowed to occur. Furthermore, we insist on a full refund of all unauthorised debits, with interest, dating back to 2018. This matter must be addressed urgently, and we expect a prompt response.
Failure to resolve this issue satisfactorily will leave us with no choice but to escalate the matter further, including seeking legal recourse and contacting relevant regulatory authorities.
We trust that you will treat this matter with the seriousness and urgency it deserves.
