Sales Rep Deceived Me
I was approached by one of their sales reps, Bongane Johan Twala, who explained all the benefits of having a policy with the unlimited. He then took me through their process of confirming the amount that would be debited from my account, had I accepted the policy. He said that our transaction was only to confirm the advertised amount, but not that I was accepting the policy.
He then asked for my banking details, this should have been a red flag, but I took his word that I wasn't legally binding myself to a new policy. He then sent a message to my phone which he phrased "It's only to confirm the amount I have advertised to you, is the correct amount that will be withdrawn from your account, if you accept the policy."
The message sent to my phone was to create a debit order. But I was not sure if I was interpreting the message correctly, so I asked him "Is this creating a debit order on my account?" just to make sure that I understand what was happening. He said "No, this is only to confirm that the amount I advertised is correct. You will not be debited on your account. We will give you 30 days to decide whether or not you want to take the policy. This gives you time to do your research and decide if this is the right policy for you. We won't debit your account, before we have contacted you within these 30 days, to confirm that you want to proceed with the policy."
Fast forward about 5 days, I see that my account has been devoted the amount that the policy would be. I was honestly not surprised. Especially since he made me sign three different documents electronically, without letting me read through them first or telling me that I was actually activating the policy, not signing just as proof that he made discussed the policy with me and that I would be called to confirm I want to take the policy.
Yes, this wast fault. I should have realised all the information I was giving him and what I was signing was to confirm the policy and that I would be debited the amount monthly. But I trusted him, I thought Bongane Johan Twala was an honest man, that would not lie to me. Especially since he told me how he got his second name from his father's employer when he was born. I decided to trust my fellow man, based off what he said, not off what was happening in the background.
This was a dishonest transaction. I was deceived and **** to. There is no "30 days". When I cancelled the policy, the lady told me that he had misinformed me, and that the 30 days was actually 5 days.
Will I get my money back? Will he be reprimanded? Likely not for both. But I want the whole internet to know that Bongane Johan Twala ****med me. He looked me straight in my eyes and **** to me without a second thought. How do I know that the other sales reps of this company aren't the same? They are likely all predators that use the same tricks to get you to sign up for a service that you did not want in the first place.
Beware of this man, and beware of this company. I will not ever be doing business with them in the future, after this little stunt.
