Misleading Sales Tactics and Unauthorized Debit Order

I had a very unpleasant experience with a sales agent from The Unlimited. I was approached by the agent and made it very clear multiple times that I was not interested in any insurance products or policies. I explained that I already have a life policy as well as medical aid that covers my needs.

Despite this, the agent continued to pressure me and insisted that he would simply take my details to send me a quotation via email so that I could review it at home.

Based on that explanation, I provided my information. However, I later discovered that the agent had used my details to register a policy in my name and even set up a debit order on my bank account without my consent.

At no point did I agree to sign up for a policy or authorize any debit order.

I have since contacted The Unlimited directly and they have confirmed that the policy has now been cancelled after I raised a complaint. While I appreciate that the matter was addressed, the conduct of the sales agent was extremely concerning and misleading.

Consumers should not be ******* into providing banking details under false pretences.

I hope The Unlimited investigates this matter properly and ensures that their sales agents operate ethically and transparently in future.
