Don't want to pay out my policy
Good day. My name is Cheryl Abrahams and I recently lost my husband who died of natural causes at home. He passed away on the 19th of September 2021. In 2013 we took out a policy from The Unlimited which would cover us both in case something happened to either of us. The policy would also cover us in the case that any of us were hospitalized due to an accident. In March 2021 I was bitten by a spider and ended up in hospital. I notified the insurance company that I was hospitalized, but to my shock they told me that I was not covered by this policy as I was hospitalized for medical reasons. They never gave me any forms to be completed by the doctor nor did they contact the doctor as far as I know. I was extremely unhappy about this and threatened to cancel the policy. I did not. After the death of my husband I contacted The unlimited to claim the policy. This time I was told that we missed a payment in June 2021. This policy is on debit order and there is always enough funds in the bank account for our debit orders. The fact that they did not deduct the money is not our problem and the next month the debit order went through and has gone off every month since. Nobody notified us that there was a premium short and they did not even deduct two payments the next month which is what most companies would do. This is totally unacceptable and this company is unreliable. I would strongly advise anybody who has a policy with them or who wants to take out a policy with them to give this matter some serious thought.
