Locals not good enough for 5 star service

Last Sunday 28 October 2018 my husband tried to surprise me with a romantic dinner at the Azure restaurant at the The Twelve Apostles Hotel And Spa.

We made the booking through the restaurant week special running from 18 October - 04 November.

We had arrived early and went for drinks at the Leopard Bar and then made our way to the restaurant.

At the beginning everything started off on a good note, we were received and served in an orderly fashion. The food was really amazing. During the evening the service just started to deteriorate, we were waiting for the longest time for our table to be cleared after a meal, and waiting more than half an hour to receive the bill after asking for it. We watched our waiter walk past us so many times and she spent most of the time attending to other tables. Making sure they were having a good time/

My general thought would be that other guests tables were being prioritized above our table merely because of the idea to keep foreign guests happy and satisfied above local guests because of the prospect of receiving a larger tip.

We ended off this experience in a very bad note and our waiter didn't even thank us or asked if we enjoyed our self after we had payed (we gave a good tip) No goodbye, no eye contact, no smile and zero five star service!

What made me feel worst was knowing that we work so hard every month and try to spend our time experiencing the amazing places in our city. Were we not good enough to be treated equaly, was it the colour of skin or did we simply not come accross as wealthy enough to be there?
