Backyard mechanics claim to be towbar experts. Beware!

I had without a doubt the worst experience with Towbars Group in 82 Marine Drive, Paarden Eiland, Cape Town. I arrived by prearranged appointment with the owner to find one african mechanic in attendance. He said his boss was away but he would do the job. Against my better judgement, I left my Rav with him and was told to collect it in 4 hours. I returned as requested to find the job was still not complete. I had another appointment so I said I would bring it back the next day for completion but he refused to give me my keys unless I paid first which meant I would have to sit there and wait for heaven knows how long for him to finish the job or alternatively pay for an unfinished job. When I tried to retrieve my keys, the man actually physically assaulted me. My friend was with me and witnessed the whole unpleasant saga. My friend called the police who arrived but were completely apathetic but stayed while the half complete towbar was then removed. It was by then already late afternoon by the time my keys were reluctantly returned by the agressive mechanic who again started pushing me around. I have my car back now and to add insult to injury, none of the back lights are working. On top of all this, while I was there I discovered that the "towbar" is actually manufactred on site with bits of mild steel angle iron welded together and then coated with paint. Highly unprofessional and Im convinced not safety compliant at all. This company has a website and claims to be a franchise but be careful.....very careful.
