In February/March 2024, we undertook a major renovation of our property, which included installing new aluminum windows and new IBR roof sheets on two large houses. The ceiling is not yet been installed. In January 2025, I began noticing slight discoloration on the inside of the roof, mainly along the joints where the sheets overlap. Initially, I did not give this much attention, as I had app**** waterproofing across the entire exterior of the roof and did not expect rust to develop so soon. During the Easter holidays (April 2025), the discoloration became more noticeable and started spreading across the house. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was rust. This was extremely concerning, but I hoped it was a minor issue and chose to monitor it. I have now returned home for the holidays(16 December 2025), and to my disappointment and devastation, the rust has spread aggressively throughout the house, especially along the joints. In one area, the corrosion has already caused a hole in one of the sheets, and it appears to be only a matter of time before the same happens to others. Even more alarming is that rust is visible in areas where there are no joints at all. These IBR roof sheets are less than two years old, yet they are already severely corroded. This is completely unacceptable for roofing material of this nature. I strongly suspect that I was sold IBR sheets that were not properly galvanized or were of substandard quality. I have purchased NS4 Anti-Rust Primer as a temporary measure, but this does not address the root cause of the problem or the significant financial loss involved. Once I locate the slips, I intend to formally confront The Timber Yard store regarding this matter. I am seeking advice on the correct approach to take and how this issue can be properly resolved.
