A trip to the pooch parlour gone wrong

A visit to the pooch parlour goes wrong

Yesterday I booked my 2 dogs (Basset Hounds) into a pooch parlour at the Kingfisher shopping center.

I dropped them off at 10am. I had to go back at 11am to collect. Simple.

Nooooooo, at 10.25am, I receive a phone call that I need to go and help the parlour to get the female Basset (Scarlett) out of the cage as she wants to bite them. I thought this was odd and she had been there before. She happily goes to the vet and has injections - no muzzle. My harmless Basset turned ****er doggy.

I was really frustrated as I work at home and I don't have time to drive up and down dropping dogs, going back to the parlour, going home again and then going back to the parlour again!

Surely pooch parlours are trained in dealing with scared dogs? Surely they can't call all owners to come and help them all the time? What if I didn't work at home and live around the corner? I certainly do not want anyone to get a bite but don't they soothe and nicely muzzle stressed pooches?

I wasn't very impressed to say the least and when I got to the pooch parlour, I took my doggy out of the cage FOR THEM and then I rang the owner to complain. He said they do not do forced grooming. I do get that but I didn't want anyone to force the dog. I did however expect them to be equipped in dealing with dogs (since they do work with them every day). I'm interested to hear from other pooch parlours regarding this. This pooch parlour has a van to collect and drop dogs off. How do you get them in and out of the van if you can't get them in and out of a cage?

The HIGHLIGHT of my day however was that I then waited in the shop for 30 minutes for them to wash my dog Scarlett. Better to do that than go home and come back again. They spoke to me in their shop and then after 30 minutes they came to me and said, I'm terribly sorry but we can't wash your dog today.

Honestly, I thought I was going to blow fire on them and puff smoke from my ears. I was soooooo angry. I went into the room where they wash the dogs and sure enough they had put my ****er Basset back IN the cage that they had asked me to go back and get her OUT of! This makes absolutely no sense to me.

Why would you make an already irritated person come back to help YOU with their dog and then put the dog back in the cage, chat to the person for half an hour (whilst they think their dog is getting a much needed bath) only to 30 minutes later say you have no time to bath the dog.

I grabbed my ****er Basset back out of the cage (for the second time), lost my temper, told them they were useless and that I was not paying for my dog Pluto (whom they did wash) and I stormed out like a total, crazy lady dragging ****er Basset and clean Basset out of the shop.

I wasn't finding it funny yesterday. Today I can't stop laughing!

A business is only as good as the people that you hire.

I have now found a mobile doggy unit to come to my house. I have explained that they are dealing with a sloppy, slightly overweight, lovable, huggable, soft Basset who has turned ****er. They said that they can cope and will gladly help me. Thank goodness for small miracles.
