The wedding venue that will drop you at the last minute

<p>My Fiance and I booked and paid in full at The Rose Pavilion, Bosky Dell Farm (in the Garden Route, WP) exactly 1 year prior to our wedding day, 17 Dec 2015. What would be the worst nightmare any bride to be could face prior to her wedding? 5 months prior to her wedding to be exact...</p> <p>I received an email from the venue (no phone call) with the subject line "serious boo boo" stating that the venue had made a double booking, and I got the short straw.</p> <p>Here are my issues and challenges with this:</p> <p>1. Our family and friends are based in Johannesburg. Our guests had booked flights and accommodation to attend our wedding. This meant we had no choice but to find an alternative venue, in the same area.</p> <p>2. Wedding vendors had all been booked and deposits paid.</p> <p>3. It seemed very strange that the reason for double booking was ".....I have no excuse – they booked and paid their deposit in Dec 2014 when they were here on holiday and because it was through a wedding planner, I didn’t write it in straight away."</p> <p>Having mentioned no.3 - It is important to note that my wedding was for 50 people, the other wedding was 150 - go figure!</p> <p>4. I had visited the venue in February 2016 to meet with the owner, and discuss the wedding day. Amazing that this was not picked up then. Would have helped me a great deal! If I knew this was going to happen, I would have gotten married closer to home as well as had plenty more options!</p> <p>Its appauling and such bad planning for any wedding venue! When my Fiance and I went down recently to find another venue, it became evident that this was no surprise to some locals and newlyweds in the area.</p> <p>On a positive note, we have thankfully found another venue. The locals in Plettenberg Bay are amazing people and will do anything to help you. There are tons of upcoming wine farms there too!!!</p>
