booking nigtmare

<div> <div>I booked a room with the Cape Town Ritz hotel for three nights stay, online, using the Amoma site, in October 2016. I was then informed 2 weeks ago that my booking had to be moved to another hotel, as the hotel was undergoing renovations. </div> <div> </div> <div>This was the first I heard of any renovations. When I made the booking I was not warned of any renovations and no one informed me of same, despite the lapse of almost four months.</div> <div> </div> <div>You would know that closer to travel dates prices increase and so does demand. I was told that I could be moved, to one other alternative hotel, only, which was not up to scratch and for the price I had paid in October, competing hotels at that time and rate were no longer available. I had no choice but to cancel the booking and find a new hotel, having to pay almost double the price.</div> <div> </div> <div>I received no apology from the hotel or any explanation. I cannot understand how customers are still able to make bookings despite the renovations, ongoing. I have been advised to report the matter to consumer protection tribunal as this goes against ethical practice. </div> <div> </div> <div>I have tried to notify the hotel of my complaint using two different contact methods but am yet to receive any response. In fact the hotel has gone so far as to ignore my emails and delete my comments of their instagram page. #badservice#noservice#bookingnightmare#stillwaiting</div> </div>
