Sent me an ******* candidate

Dear Sir,

My business, MUSE Hair and Beauty, decided to make use of the services of a Recruitment Agency many months ago to assist us in finding a suitable Beauty The******.

After contacting The Recruitment Specialists and receiving CV’s and interviewing candidates, we finally received one candidate who seemed to fit the profile. I paid the R6000 placement fee. After a short time, it became obvious that the candidate’s s****s were not up to scratch, but more importantly, she did not have a work permit for South African (she was Zimbabwean). As soon as this was discovered, I of course had to let her go. I notified The Recruitment Specialists and told them a replacement would need to be found (which is their standard procedure). However, after a couple more months of not receiving anything suitable from them, I requested a refund and decided I would attempt to find a Beauty The****** on my own. It had been far too long for my business not to have one and we were losing money. The R6000 placement fee (that was in essence, for an ******* placement) could be used elsewhere in my business, especially due to the losses incurred from not having a Beauty The******.

Immediately Francois from TRS refused and was very rude to me in our correspondence, accusing me of being “immoral and *********”. I decided to speak to my lawyer who duly sent him a letter. This letter had to be sent twice because Francois apparently did not receive the first one. He sent back a long reply, blaming me for not checking with the candidate during the interview whether she had a work permit. This is quite surprising as I would think that is the responsibility of the employment agency. Surely Step 1 when finding candidates to submit to potential employees is that they are legally allowed to work in the country?

After reviewing TRS on their Facebook page, I received a message from a lady by the name of Sally who asked me to call her, which I did. Sally is the Owner and Director of TRS and had not heard of this incident at all and was outraged by the story. She assured me she would get this sorted out and would get back to me. I told her I would be willing to forfeit R2000 of the R6000 to cover any advertising costs they incurred, purely an act of goodwill on my part. After a few follow-ups from my side, she proceeded to block me on WhatsApp and remove herself from the situation.

And that is where I am currently in this situation. I informed them that I would be proceeding with taking this matter to numerous print-media and digital new sites as well as the Department of Labour.

The contact details for The Recruitment Specialists are as follows:

www.therecruitmentspecialists.com

https://www.facebook.com/The-Recruitment-Specialists

Sally Kuschke (She informed me telephonically that she is Owner and Director) – **********

Francois Marais (as per his email signature, he is Director) – ********** & **********
There is no office number or contact details on their website.

Should you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards,

KATHRYN LIPRINI

UPDATE: So after months and months of TRS searching for a candidate, and all of the above happening, I placed an ad on Gumtree a week ago. I received a fair amount fo CV's, interviewed 3 candidates (all 100% suitable) and have employed one who starts tomorrow. Easy as that. Just goes to show the severe lack of service provided by TRS.
