Rubish Excuse
When I started playing golf I was advised to get a 10.5 driver as it is more suited to a beginner. I went ahead and did this. After I dropped some strokes off the handicap I decided to loft down with my driver as I was getting way too much loft. The Pro Shop had a special on the M2 Driver 9.5 so I decided this would be a good option for me. I have hit the club a few times at the shop but I ordered this specific club from their online store. After playing a few rounds I noticed that the ball flight was too high and decided to ask a friend about it. He is a very experienced golfer and decided to measure the loft for me just out of curiosity. It turns out that the loft is not 9.5 degrees but in fact 11.5. Obviously this was not great news for me so I decided to ask 1 of the employees at the N1 branch in Cape Town what I should do in this situation? His response was that The Pro Shop doesn't stipulate the lofts of the clubs and doesn't believe in measuring ball flight based on loft. He also said "Let me guess. You hit all your shots high and right with the occasional low and left? " To which I rep**** - "No. High and straight". He then told me that I can't really take what my friend says by face value because its a friend telling me what he thinks is wrong. Firstly, I trust that friend as I mentioned before he is very experienced as well as the fact that the numbers don't lie. He also told me that it's probably my golf swing and not the club. I find it ridiculous that after the thousands of rands spent there, the only thing that the employee could do was ignore and deflect the actual issue, which is that the loft is completely different to what it says on the club and website. I asked if he would measure it in store and he said that The Pro Shop doesn't do it and doesn't work off of loft degrees anyway. Maybe it needs to be advertised more clearly that the customer should not believe what it says on the website when purchasing clubs (loft/flex etc.). Now I will need to try and sell the driver and hopefully there is a retailer out there that I can actually trust. Cheers
