Mr Jacques van Wyk of The Pool Builder phoned me and organised a meeting to give a quote to build a swimming pool and some extra work after I enquired on a site that promiseD 4 different quotes to choose from. I quote from the email sent to me via the website:

"Hi ADRI

Thank you for your enquiry. poolpricing.co.za is a member of the Quickleads family of quote websites.

Your quote request was received by:
The Pool Builder
********** />
If you have any problems or feedback about our service, please do not hesitate to contact us at ********** />
Kind Regards,

The Quickleads Team
www.quickleads.co.za

We generate sales leads for numerous industries across South Africa. If your business could use a boost get hold of us by emailing ********** />
Quickleads - finding the customer amongst the crowd."

Jacques missed the first appointment without letting know he cannot make it. This should have been my first indication that he is not to be trusted.

When he eventually came, he sounded fairly knowledgeable and his quote was very detailed, looked very professional and the price was good. When we accepted I paid the R30 000 deposit. He brought a couple of guys who hand digged the hole the first week. Initially he wanted to stop at 1.2m, but we asked and got quoted for 1.5m. The dug the hole deeper and then he delivered a couple of bags of cement, some gravel and sand. Some guys came to put in subtandard steel wire. At that stage Jacques asked for the next installment before he starts with the next stage. I payed the next amount. That is where the service of any kind stopped.

Every day Jacques had some excuse why he could not come. After a month, he 'confessed' that someone stole money from his account so he cannot buy supplie, pay his crew, or buy diesel to come to finish the job.

He said that he is waiting for payment from clients and would then continue. Another week passed and by then we decided after doing a lot of research to demand our money back and get someone else to do the job.

I found that Jacques van Wyk had some aliases, eg. Wayne Havenga end Wayne Geminova. He also used different company names, eg. Modern Pools, Advanced Pools and many more according to the research I have done.

One of my friends said they heard about this man doing the same thing to other people on a forum he belongs to.

After telling Jacques that we are now done waiting for our money, he became angry and "would see me in court"

Please be warned. I really gave him so many opportunities to do the right thing.
