Dont do it

I have lived her for just over a year. At this point, I'm worried that I may have actually died and I'm now in hell. I thought it was bad when I first moved in, and our toilet flooded the house with raw sewerage, but little did I know ...

In the space of a year, we have had our toilet overflow into our bedroom THREE TIMES. Management doesnt enforce any of the rules - you'll often see tiny children (probably 6 years old, at most) running around unaccompanied.

Maintenance staff dont wear their masks.

Weve had to replace three sets of tyres because the gates act up at least once a week (not that management cared). In addition to slashing our tyres, the gates regularly dont work during loadshedding, and the guards just wave you through. There is no way the guards know and remember every car in this place well enough that this isnt a major security risk.

There are regularly loud parties in the estate, and often caused / endorsed by management bringing djs in to play at the clubhouse. Heaven forbid you want to sit in your yard or balcony without your ears being assaulted by heavy bass beats and people screaming.

Then, of course, do you like a nice kitchen? Well you dont get one here. First of all, you get ONE kitchen drawer (that's something you can check before moving in, but still pretty cr*ppy). In the first three weeks, expect at least one cupboard door to come loose and threaten to whack you on the head. The longer you stay, the more cupboards will break.

I'm not sure about the newer blocks, but in some of the older blocks, the grey water and sewerage pipes were mixed up (they also have cement in them, which causes a whole host of issues), according to one of the foremen, so sometimes your kitchen sink will just smell like sewerage. For no reason.

THEN we move on to the pests! Yes! There is an infestation of rats, and there is an infestation of ****roaches. And by infestation, I mean there are ****roaches crawling out of drains to come and ruin your life. Nothing is safe. You will have to wash each dish before using it because otherwise you're going to be eating ****roach poo, and that stuff makes you sick.

And then of course, get used to buying bottled water. The water here is disgusting and I dont even think it's safe to drink. My cat wont even drink the tap water.

There is zero soundproofing between floors, so expect to hear *everything* from at least the two floors directly above you.

Then theres the communication, or lack thereof. I have sent through many many complaints on the app, none of which were responded to, and when I eventually wrote out a very long and aggressive email to the estate manager, I got what is possibly the rudest reply I've ever seen. Probably why he was replaced, although the new manager isnt much better. After being told to download the new app, we were told there was a problem "that should be sorted in two days", and then nothing. The app didnt start working, and it was only after a month of having to phone the guard house (not an easy task seeing as there is exactly one 5cm×5cm patch of signal) to let visitors in did one of the guards tell me I have to go to the guard house and get a code to make my app work again.

The whole place is poorly built, poorly run, and absolutely *disgusting*.
