The Palace Suncity

Subject: Urgent Complaint: Deceptive Management & Terrible Experience at Sun City’s The Palace

Dear Hello Peter Team,

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against Sun City’s The Palace for the ********** experience my family and I endured, as well as the unprofessional and ********* behavior of management in handling the situation.

In October, my husband and I celebrated our anniversary at The Palace, and the experience was nothing short of amazing. Because of that, I decided to bring my two sons for their very first visit in November, expecting to give them the same unforgettable experience. However, our stay was a complete disaster and left us utterly disappointed.

Here’s what happened: 1. Undisclosed Renovations: When I made my booking, I was never informed that there would be renovations. If I had been told, I would have reconsidered. This is not how you treat paying guests. 2. No Hot Water: After checking in, we went to the pool, and when we returned to our room, I discovered there was no drinking water provided. To make matters worse, when I tried to shower, there was no hot water—a problem that persisted every single morning and evening throughout our stay. 3. Poor Room Service & Cleanliness Issues: Our coffee station was not restocked, and shockingly, I found dirty cutlery carelessly left in a drawer—absolutely unacceptable for a so-called luxury hotel. 4. Disastrous Breakfast Experience: Every morning, we arrived to find most of the bread was already finished, the waffles were old and stale, and on Thursday morning, my sons were left disappointed when they were told there were NO waffles at all! 5. Overpriced for a Nightmare Experience: I spent nearly R10,000 for just two nights, believing my sons would have the same magical experience I had in October, only to be met with nothing but frustration and disappointment.

Management’s Deceptive Behavior:

After raising my concerns, Francois, the manager, personally promised me two complimentary nights as compensation for this unacceptable experience. I appreciated this as a sign of goodwill. However, to my absolute shock, he later went back on his word and withdrew the offer without explanation.

This is dishonest, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable for a resort that prides itself on offering a “luxury experience.” Guests should not be misled, deceived, or treated unfairly—especially after paying a premium price for what turned out to be a subpar and frustrating stay.

My Sons’ First Experience Was Ruined

This was my two sons’ first time at The Palace, and instead of a memorable, world-class experience, they were met with poor service, unfulfilled promises, and disappointment. As a mother, I cannot accept that after spending R10,000 on this trip, my children were let down so badly by a resort that claims to offer excellence.

My Demand:

I demand that Sun City honors the two complimentary nights as initially promised. This is the absolute minimum they can do to rectify the experience and restore faith in their brand.

If this is not resolved immediately, I will have no choice but to take this complaint further—to consumer protection authorities, hospitality review platforms, and social media, ensuring that future guests are warned about the poor service and misleading management at Sun City’s The Palace.

I look forward to Hello Peter’s assistance in holding Sun City accountable.

Regards, Letitia Richards
