Inaccurate readings, customer service unhelpful

If you are looking for a reliable way of measuring your utility bill - stay away from The Meter Shack. The 1st of April, we moved into a new development from Balwin where The Meter Shack does the billing. After not receiving the necessary information from our rental agent regarding the utilities and our electricity being switched off, Morgan from The Meter Shack provided excellent service in assisting us.

However, I have noticed something very strange regarding the meter readings and how inaccurate it is. During the long weekend, we went away on the Friday and came back on the Monday afternoon. We switched off all plugs, except the fridge and monitored the utilities on the Balwin app. I noted that our water reading kept climbing . It was insignificant small amounts and I didn't bother too much about it even though I knew it should technically stay the same amount.

This morning, I had a look at our usage and sudden we have jumped up to using over 3 kl water over the weekend. To explain a bit regarding our whereabouts: Friday night - we ate out. Saturday - had coffee, showered, went out before 11 and returned to drop something off, left again to return 6 pm the evening. Ate takeouts and went to bed early. Sunday - had coffee, went to gym, had a quick shower and went out again. Came back around 8 pm. Only to shower the Monday morning again. On Saturday afternoon, our water usage was 0.1 kl approximately on the app for that day's usage. Please explain to me how it could have jumped from that suddenly 3 kl of water. I have spoken to customer services and the response that I have received is that your meters are accurate, I'm upset about the tariffs due to the drought and that a detailed statement will be sent to explain my usage. According to your system, we have used that amount of water between 04-05-2018 11 pm until last night, 06-05-2018 11 pm. After explaining that the reading cannot be accurate as we have barely been home and didn't do anything that consume water except showering once a day and flushing the toilet, I were asked who used water at 11 pm on Friday night as their system is showing someone used water - so I said that we were asleep at that time and that it could possibly be a toilet that were flushed. However, this doesn't explain the excessive usage that we are being charged for. On average, we have been using 3-4 kl of water a month since the drought and trying to save where we can - our utilities bills are proof. I didn't do any cooking, laundry or washing dishes over the weekend - how can this "eco-friendly apartment" from Balwin consume such significantly high amounts of utilities.

I am highly upset about the customer services' problem solving s****s and the inability to assist clients. On top of that we have been charged for a service fee just below R200, which will apparently be deducted on a monthly basis and when querying this, they could not explain what these services were.

I did not choose to be your client and after this experience, I will definitely not invest in Balwin properties (which I wanted to do next year) as I will have to deal daily with the stress of our consumption.

Still no response. No one has phoned back, neither has the detailed statements been sent as requested, however - they are eager to bill me even for more utilities. I have proof of how water is "being utilized" at my apartment while no one is home.
