Overcharging without explanation

On the 14 August they installed The Meterman meter in my flat. On the 3rd of September I bought electricity of R350 using my FNB App I received 81.3KWh, the following week on the 10 of September I bought electricity for the same amount R350 and I received 77.1KWh; and on the 17 September I bought electricity of R400 and I received 71.5kWh. I contacted them to find out what is going on and their rep**** that they had a look and the rates were updated to the rate that the Body Corporate is charged for electricity by Eskom but they could not explain why it was updated twice in one month.

Good day Fathy

Thank you for reaching out and allowing us the opportunity to clarify the situation.

As explained in our previous correspondence, when the meters were initially installed, they were set to a default rate. Unfortunately, the rate was later incorrectly adjusted to R4.55, instead of the correct rate of R5.60.

As a result, during your purchases on the 9th and 10th of September, you received more kW than you should have due to this error. We have since corrected the rate to R5.60, which is the rate the Body Corporate is billed by Eskom.

We sincerely apologize for any  inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding.

Kind regards,
The Meter Man - Tariff Department
