The Mattress Warehouse Midrand worst customer experience
To: The Mattress Warehouse Date: 11 October 2025 Order Date: 21 August 2025 I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service and product I have received from The Mattress Warehouse Midrand following my order placed on 21 August 2025 for a Cloud Nine Comfort Plush mattress and base. Timeline of Failures and Inconvenience • Incorrect Delivery (9 September 2025): Instead of the Cloud Nine Comfort Plush I ordered, I received a Cloud Nine Camden Firm, Orthopedic mattress and base. This was not the product I selected or paid for. • Immediate Complaint and Initial Denial: Within five minutes of the incorrect delivery, I called The Mattress Warehouse, spoke to Arno Spies, to lodge a complaint and requested a full refund. My request was escalated, and I was later told by the manufacturer (via The Mattress Warehouse) that the Comfort Plush and the Camden Firm were the "very same" product. This is demonstrably false based on the product names, specifications, and a visual comparison of both beds. This was escalated to the Online Manager, Sandy Coetzer, who continued to try convincing me that these two products were exactly the same. After lengthy conversations regarding the mattress being an old range (which, by the way, is still being advertised), I eventually told Sandy that I would not accept this and wanted a refund. • Weeks of Runaround and poor customer service (September 2025): For weeks, I was forced to beg and plead for a resolution. During this time, I was severely inconvenienced, left without the correct product, and subjected to completely unacceptable customer service. I was given the runaround by Arno Spies and Sandy Coetzer (Sales and Management), who offered bizarre and unprofessional excuses for the delay, including claiming their system was "retarded" in crediting my account. • Compromised Agreement and Payment (22 September 2025): At my wits' end and needing a resolution, I reluctantly agreed to a comfort swap on 22 September 2025, paying an additional difference of R2,300 for a mattress that was not my first choice. • Continued Delivery Delays and Systemic Failure (22 September – 9 October 2025): Following the agreement, I have had to follow up weekly to track the delivery of the replacement mattress. The unprofessional excuses continued, including repeated comments about "the company process is retarded and [it] will take place the next week," causing significant frustration and further inconvenience. • Final Day of Delay (10 October 2025): On 9 October, I had to call The Mattress Warehouse and ended up speaking with Tumi, who promised delivery for 10 October. On the day of delivery, I had to call three times to confirm the status. At the final call around 5:00 PM, I was promised the mattress would arrive, and it finally did at 6:00 PM. I would like to thank Tumi for going the extra mile and ensuring that I receive my purchase within the promised time frame, keeping to her word, and keeping a customer satisfied. Conclusion This entire experience has been a catastrophic failure of customer service, logistics, and product integrity from The Mattress Warehouse Midrand. The initial incorrect delivery, the subsequent refusal to acknowledge the error, the sustained poor communication, the continuous delays, and the extreme inconvenience caused are unacceptable.
