Terrible Experience at The Maslow Hotel (Sandton)
21 July 2017: - Had a hackathon at work and a colleague and I decided to try get some sleep as it was a 24hour work event (booked via Discovery and paid more than the rate displayed in the hotel website) - Checked in at about 5ish, later than standard check in time (the same colleague that checked in with me, unfortunately had to go home as her child got sick) - Another colleague decided to take the place of my other colleague, and we got to the room at about 12:30 - 1am. There was no duvet and the pillows had no pillow cases and were on table. My colleague and I put the pillow cases on so at least we had something to rest our heads on as we were exhausted and lay down while waiting for duvets - Called reception to inform them and they said someone would help us. About 20 mins and still nobody. Called reception again and they said someone was on the way. In total, we waited for about an hour for someone to arrive - The lady that knocked on our door (my colleague and were so tired that we both didn't even think to get her name) had bed sheets with her, but when we showed her that we had no duvets, she immediately apologised and quickly left to get us duvets. Shortly, she came back with the duvets. 22 July 2017: - My colleague and I checked out very early to get back to our hackathon (was about 4:30am) and dropped the keys into the box as there wasn't anyone at the reception 24 July 2017: - Completed the survey with the details (as above) and asked if I could get a refund or some sort of compensation for our completely unexpected experience at a 4 star hotel - Completed another survey, with similar details as above, but can't remember the date of completion 3 August 2017: - Called The Maslow Hotel and asked to speak to the manager as I had no response from the hotel since the survey. I was put through to Natasha (didn't get her surname). I explained the situation and she said that the state if the room was not acceptable and she would get back to me with feedback, as well as if we could get a refund or compensation of some sort.
To date, I have heard nothing from The Maslow Hotel. I am exceptionally busy at work and have very little time to do any personal errands, which is why I have taken so long to get this on HelloPeter. Would anyone from The Maslow be prepared to comment on the unfortunate experiences, both during and post-customer service?
