Unprofessional Service

Raisthorpe Omega Pharmacy.

Disappointing treatment by Locum Pharmacist on 2022-04-30.

Circumstances- I was informed that I was not supposed to be in the Pharmacy as she suspected I was Covid Positive. This information was gathered by the Locum Pharmacist as she read the script that was handed to her for processing to treat a sore throat my daughter was experiencing.

She asked if I went for a covid test and I rep**** no but I have taken my daughter for one as a precautionary measure. To protect her dignity I will not name her but I was told by the Locum Pharmacist I should not be inside the shop and the signage was on the door indicating this. I apologized took the medication and proceeded to the exit. Upon exiting the pharmacy, there was no signage whatsoever indicating that I could not enter having an unconfirmed covid 19 test or encounter with a person that is covid positive.

I had my mask on and was in good health. No one stopped me at the door or screened me, there was not one A4 / A3 notice as previously pasted on the doors / entrance during the previous severe Corona Virus epidemic Alert levels or State of Disaster Regulations. All the instructions and pages were removed off the doors as I frequent the Pharmacy quite often.

I then informed the front staff where are the notices that indicate that I can’t access this Pharmacy, there was no notices. No one answered. I stated that I will take this further. There are cameras in the Pharmacy that can support my queries.

Support- I have been a customer of this Pharmacy since 1997, a cash and medical aid patient, my parents chronic medication, including referring friends and family to Omega Pharmacy. A period of over 25 years.

It is disgusting for a person to analyze your script and make assumptions without facts and say you not supposed to be in the pharmacy and state there’s signage indicating this this when there is no signage at all.

Locum Pharmacist, wake up as Corona is here to stay, you cannot decide who walks into the pharmacy and has covid based on their script.

In that case you should have a security officer and people doing rapid tests at the door to determine who you let in for business. Why do you have a screen to protect you? Was I coughing or crawling to the counter? Why was I allowed free access into the counter area without being interrogated regarding my business there?

The Locum Pharmacist or any other employee must remember that we the local community keep the Pharmacy going through our business and support. Do not segregate and marginalize people who you suspect of having covid 19. Your business will collapse should you continue to treat faithful customers in this shameful manner.

Education and Customer Service Orientation is needed at Omega Pharmacy.

Please read the disaster management Act. We are no more on alert level 5 or lockdown.

Yes I understand you have to take precautions but not in the manner I was treated yesterday.

What is the code of ethics relating to Pharmacists?

A pharmacist is dedicated to protecting the dignity of the patient. Serving the patient in a private or confidential manner. A pharmacist respects the autonomy and dignity of each patient.

Read the State of Disaster Act, do you have a Covid Compliance Officer? When I walked in no one asked what symptoms I may have or my temperature taken and recorded or asked if I’m positive or have been in contact with a positive person.

No notices or signage!

The Disaster Management Act States : A person who is control of a retail Store must take steps to ensure and designate a compliance Officer.

Where is your compliance Officer or screening Station when I walked in?

I will no longer support your Pharmacy due to this treatment as other reviews have stated there are many other pharmacies in this Community. I will inform my contacts of this treatment and withdraw further support by family members. Omega pharmacy is definitely not the LOCAL CHOICE.

Please educate your Staff on how to treat customers and stop asking untoward questions when you don’t know the facts pertaining to the matter.
