Knysna Houseboat ****

If I could give less than 1 star I would. What was sold as a rustic experience to switch off and recharge was really a **** of unhygienic, uncleaned & endless issues of a very expensive weekend away. The waste tank must've been emptied out the day we arrived as the boat smelt like human waste. The boat was uncleaned on arrival - human hairs in a dirty fridge and on counters. Spider webs the size of our hands in basically every corner, not to mention rust water leaking out of the cupboards where the cutlery & plates are stored.. We paid for amenities like solar and wifi - none of this worked. Came home each day to a beeping battery which we had to switch off - no way to charge our phones. We were told "we probably used too much power" despite being on land the entire day each time. We are supposed to be there on a weekend away, not interested in having to now have all the endless problems sorted out while we paid very high rates for what was supposed to be relaxation. The new host response "Oh sorry, I didn't think to check before you arrived".

Still expected to pay high rates for what was actually a nightmare holiday - because the host wasn't bothered to clean and check that everything was working before our arrival? After the original host who we made the booking with confirmed a refund for the extremely unappetising stay. Guess when it actually came time to stick to their word & refund us for all of their clear issues, their tunes suddenly changed..

Dont be ****med into this boat. Rather spend the same money on a 5 star stay on land.
