HORROR IN LAFFA
Where do I even begin…I’m beyond shocked and appalled at how this restaurant is still operating in an upperclass area such as Bryanston. I went to Bryanston Shopping center on the 5th of April 2024 and decided I’m going to give a Schwarma restaurant called Laffa a try but to the detriment of my hunger I first noticed that people were kept waiting and the owner or manager was brazenly scolding his employee's in a demeaning manner in full force right in front of the customers but I had already ordered for sit down so I had to witness all of that. I ordered a chocolate milkshake and my partner ordered a banana and milk smoothie, first of all my milkshake was watered down and tasted like a bad generic of Nesquik and the banana smoothie was literally 1 banana and milk also very watery nothing unique at all.
Upon ordering my meal the menu is very limited something as basic as cucumber they didn’t have but the restaurant is located 10 steps from fresh produce in Checkers and the owner/manager was unbothered at that notion. I ordered a beef schwarma and I could only have coleslaw and lettuce my partner ordered ordered a Mexican Chicken schwarma and chips, we received the chips first and boy were they spiced to extremity to a point where the chips were inedible we were not given the option to choose between spicy or regular salted chips when we brought this to the attention of the owner/manager he blatantly said “I didn’t spice those chips” and walked away no accountability whatsoever then proceeded to go into the kitchen and shout at all his staff(all grown men) making one of them cry. Our waiter took the chips and brought us a somewhat better batch. From where we were sitting we could see the food preparation and took note of the unhygienic practices ie coleslaw stored in a plastic container in seemingly left for a prolonged period as the colour of the slaw was changed to yellow . The meat both chicken and ‘beef’ was barely cooked on the spit both proteins were white in colour as if they were boiled, needless to say we received our food mine was bland and I couldn’t get past the first bite my partner’s food was over spiced and made him sick afterwards. Lesson learnt I’ll just stick to my favourite Anat
I really urge the restaurant health and safety inspectors to head over to The Laffa in Bryanston Shopping centre and investigate the practices of this establishment.
