Worst book keeper ever.

I started using ‘the Jump’ which is a one man accounting set up. I was referred to Nelis through a friend. At first it seemed like things were going great, Nelis had ideas of how to help me get my business accounting up to date and save me lots of money. We agreed on a monthly fee which he suggested and gave reasons why he wanted to work at that rate, and what it included. After a month, he came back and doubled the fee, but became less and less available to questions and communication. His wife was about to have a baby, so understandably he was going to be unavailable for a week or so while they settled in to the new addition. The problem was, Nelis never became available again. He would never return phone calls, and wouldn’t reply to emails. He would only ever come to light at the end of the month when my staff’s salaries needed to be done. Long story short, Nelis never submitted my PAYE submissions, may VAT is was a mess, he gave me such poor advice on how to run my business accounting. It has cost me a fortune, I had to get a new accounting firm to re do all the work he did in an 8 month period. He was ‘finalizing’ my financial statements since April 2018, and never produced them, SARS started calling me stating that there were outstanding submissions, but he received to answer any questions, and to hell me get it sorted out, he just stopped answering my phone calls, and without even the decency of ending our official work agreement, he just blocked my number and disappeared. We have been trying to contact him for months, as we still cannot submit Serrano things without information from him, and he just refuses to engage in any kind of communication. I have put off taking legal action, because I didn’t want to fight, but enough is enough. Be very careful before trusting this man with your accounting, and if he already is, start checking what’s going on... it might cost you your business.

On his website, he advertised what was include in his standard package, everything he was supposed to do was covered by his own adverti*****t, but when after getting fed up, and asking him why he wasn’t doing his job, he made it sound like he was doing me a favor, and was I even charging me his full tariff, when I then sent him screen shots of his own website, that’s when he stopped talking to me. He then also very quickly changed his website.
