********* Practice by the Holiday Club
Despite the recent flooding and destruction of the uMdloti coast line the holiday club refuses to refund our booking and insist that we must cancel the booking and loose our points as the resort is open.
We have since phoned the resort and you are 100% correct they are open, HOWEVER they also confirmed that the access roads are damaged and dangerous to travel on, the beaches are closed, there is no cell phone signal and (best of all) there is NO water but they will hopefully provide a JoJo for an hour a day - awesome holiday experience courtesy of Holiday club. After seeing a similar comment by Jason M and the marketing response that shows they really do not care about their members, I guess the Hospitality industry ombusman (***) is the only way to go.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience brought about by the recent unprecedented KZN floods.
The safety and comfort of our guests has always been our priority and will continue to be. Please note that during such unforeseen circumstances, we as a company also had no choice but to deal with the matter on a day to day basis, with guidance and advice from our local municipalities and trusted news providers.
We can confirm that at the time of the rains, our resorts were operational and accessible, as its structural integrity has been braced for adverse conditions over the years. In terms of water restrictions as a result of the floods, back-up water tanks, reserve water supplies and boreholes at a majority of our resorts helped curb this issue. Although inundated with calls from concerned guests, we are happy to confirm that we were able to attend to their queries and assist each individual matter in a reasonable manner.
It is our aim to provide our guests with a memorable holiday experience and are glad to have done so despite these unfortunate and trying conditions.
